Cluster 7 Officers' Convention Held in Samal

SAMAL ISLAND — Over 200 church officers from Cluster 7 gathered at Samal Elementary School for a convention themed "Grounded on the Bible, Focused on the Mission." The event brought together elders, deacons, deaconesses, clerks, treasurers, and other local leaders for a day of training and spiritual renewal.

Pr. David C. Bornales, Davao Mission Executive Secretary, led the morning devotional based on Genesis 24. He highlighted the faithfulness of Eleazer, Abraham's servant, who completed his mission without seeking recognition. Pr. Bornales encouraged officers to remain faithful even when unappreciated, noting that "our works are recorded in the annals of heaven."

Departmental breakout sessions followed, providing specialized training for each church office. A total of 204 officers attended, including 57 elders, 54 deacons and deaconesses, 31 treasurers, 25 clerks, and others from Sabbath School, AY, and Barnabas ministries.

The commitment message was delivered by Pr. Reynald dela Cruz, Davao Mission President, who addressed the sobering reality that four out of ten Adventists leave the church. He reminded officers of the 3 P's of the Gospel Commission: the promise of the Holy Spirit's power, the call to reach people, and the promise of Christ's presence.

Looking ahead to March, Pr. dela Cruz urged leaders to implement the 3 R's in their care groups: Revive through prayer and fasting, Reorganize for effectiveness, and Reorient toward the mission. He also outlined the importance of integrating and assimilating new members after baptism, with the goal that they themselves begin visiting others within three months.

The convention closed with a renewed sense of purpose as officers committed to remain faithful in their calling.
