Davao Mission Holds Lay Leadership Development and Evangelism Training Summit

Davao Mission Headquarters, Bajada, Davao City | Charish Espinosa-Maceda

DAVAO CITY — Bible workers and Personal Ministries leaders from across the field gathered at the Davao Mission Conference Hall on February 27–28, 2026, for the Lay Leadership Development and Evangelism Training Summit organized by the Davao Mission. Carrying the theme, “From the Word to the World,” the two-day gathering focused on equipping frontline lay leaders to translate biblical truth into active mission.

The summit was initiated by Pr. Robert Mirasol, Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director, as part of the mission’s continuing commitment to strengthen evangelism and empower local church leadership. Day one featured a series of lectures and workshops led by theology professors from South Philippine Adventist College (SPAC). The invited lecturers included Pr. Albert Dichoso, Pr. Vergilio Basia Jr., Pr. Don Leo Garilva II, and Pr. Alfred Labadisos, Chairperson of the SPAC Theology Department.

Throughout the sessions, speakers emphasized that effective evangelism must always begin with a deep grounding in Scripture. They highlighted that the Word of God is not merely studied for knowledge but proclaimed for transformation. Participants engaged in interactive workshops that allowed them to refine Bible study approaches, strengthen personal witnessing skills, and develop practical evangelistic plans tailored to their respective districts.

The second day, held on Sabbath, shifted the focus toward worship and spiritual renewal. The morning worship service and subsequent lectures reinforced the sacred calling of lay leaders as co-laborers in Christ’s mission.

The summit culminated in an afternoon commitment program, where Pr. David Bornales, Executive Secretary of the Davao Mission , challenged everyone to put into action what they had learned. He encouraged them to bring the Word of God to the people in their communities and to live out the gospel in their daily lives.

The two-day gathering concluded with a united spirit of dedication, as Bible workers and Personal Ministries leaders recommitted themselves to their sacred task. More than a seminar, the summit served as a renewal of vision—an affirmation that when leaders are rooted in the Word, they can confidently bring the message to the world.
The Lay Leadership Development and Evangelism Training Summit stands as another step in the Davao Mission’s ongoing efforts to build a strong, biblically grounded, and
