Davao Mission 10 Days of Prayer
Davao Mission Headquarters, Davao City, Davao del Sur | Al Ray Lazado
Davao City — Workers of the Davao Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church gathered for a week-long spiritual convocation, also known as the 10 Days of Prayer, marking the beginning of the year with intentional reflection, prayer, and fellowship.]
The gathering featured two daily sessions, held in the morning and again in the afternoon starting at 3:00 p.m., allowing participants to engage in worship and discussion while balancing their regular work responsibilities.
The daily messages centered on themes of spiritual renewal, total dependence on God, unity in service, and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit. Each topic was designed to guide participants through personal devotion, collective prayer, and practical application—encouraging both inward reflection and outward ministry.
A unique addition to this year’s program was the inclusion of a brief, guided group discussion on the Bible text in focus prior to each topic presentation. Participants gathered in small groups to reflect on the selected passage, share insights, and pray together before the main message was delivered. This interactive segment, implemented for the first time, fostered deeper engagement with Scripture and prepared hearts and minds for the message that followed.
A communion service was held on Friday evening, providing a sacred moment of humility, repentance, and renewed commitment among the workers. The program concluded on Saturday morning with a final worship session that emphasized dedication to mission and service.
In the afternoon, participants proceeded to Hope Mountain in Talomo, Davao City, for a fellowship activity that blended spiritual learning with recreation. The event featured Bible drills aimed at sharpening Scripture memory among the younger participants, while also challenging and engaging the “young at heart,” fostering intergenerational learning and camaraderie.
Held during the first week of the year, the annual program serves as a time to recalibrate priorities, refocus on mission goals from a renewed spiritual perspective, and strengthen unity among fellow workers in Christ. Organizers emphasized that the 10 Days of Prayer is not only a tradition but a vital spiritual anchor that equips workers for the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead.
