A wonderful opportunity was given to the Seventh-day Adventist Church when Pr. Jaffet Legario, Davao Mission (DM) Communication and Public Affairs Director, attended the 6th regular session of the Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) of Davao City and was asked to introduce briefly some of our programs for the community and gave a prayer which was appreciated by the chamber. This happened today, February 10, 2026 at the SP Session Hall, San Pedro St., Davao City.

This event was initiated by Carl and Faye Santillan, when their request to give Bible Stories and The Great Controversy Books to the city councilors and their respective staff was warmly accepted. With Pr. Legario, they were with Pr. Elmer Arrogante, DM Health Director, Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Clifford of the Publishing Department and Joshua Flores of Hope Channel.

Before the session started, Faye, after given the nod, distributed the The Great Controversy Books to each of the councilors and to the SP staff. Then, after the opening part of the session, the group, through Councilor Temujin “Tek” Ocampo, was acknowledged. After Pr. Legario’s prayer, the presiding officer, Hon. Melchor Quitain, inquired about the Riverdale SDA Church, and referred him to Councilor Jopet Baluran for the installation of a pedestrian lane in front of that eye-catching worship building, to the delight of the group.

After the photo opportunity with the councilors, our team stayed to observe the session, 21st city council, their 6th regular. They waited to personally visit some councilors for prayer in their respective offices. The event culminated in rubbing elbows with several prominent guests from other government agencies such as maritime and coast guard, and left a positive impression with the policy-making body of our local government, on our affirmation of support to health and other community projects for our dear Dabawenyos.
