SPAC Theology Students Deployed for Mission Service in Mindanao

Davao Mission Headquarters, Bajada, Davao City | Bjezrel Labajo

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” — Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)

DAVAO CITY — In a spirit of dedication to gospel service, 18 AB Theology students from South Philippine Adventist College (SPAC) were officially deployed on February 2, 2026, at the Davao Mission Headquarters, marking the beginning of their On-the-Job Training (OJT) immersion in frontline ministry.

The students will serve for three and a half months across three mission territories: Davao Mission, Southeastern Caraga Mission, and Northern Davao Mission. They will be assigned to various churches and districts where they will gain hands-on experience in pastoral and church leadership work.

This deployment is more than an academic requirement — it is a sacred calling in action. As part of their field exposure, the student missionaries will engage in church visitations, evangelistic efforts, district coordination, and local church support. They will also observe and participate in different strategies used by pastors and leaders in nurturing congregations and advancing the mission.

Leaders emphasized that the training will help the students understand the realities of ministry — balancing spiritual leadership, administrative responsibilities, and personal discipleship. The immersion allows them to witness firsthand how God’s work moves forward in diverse church settings.

Ellen G. White highlights the model of ministry these young workers are preparing to follow:
“Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, ‘Follow Me.’”
— The Ministry of Healing, p. 143

As these theology students enter the field, they are not only learning methods but embracing Christ’s way of service — compassionate, personal, and mission-focused. Their deployment reflects the Adventist Church’s commitment to preparing workers who are spiritually grounded, practically trained, and ready to proclaim the gospel.
Church leaders and members are encouraged to pray for these young missionaries as they answer God’s call, trusting that this season of training will shape them into faithful shepherds for the Lord’s harvest.
